In cities that license guides, we check the licence with the issuing authority and a guide is bookable only while it is current. When it lapses they leave our search automatically — nobody has to remember. Where no licence is issued, we verify identity instead and say so.

We would rather tell you we have not established the rules than guess on your behalf.
